DOMA Coffee at Atlas Waterfront
Over three summers in Coeur d’Alene, DOMA Coffee at Atlas Waterfront became one of those places we stopped thinking of as simply a coffee shop and started treating like part of our routine.
We visited dozens of times—sometimes specifically for coffee, and often because its location on the Centennial Trail made it a natural destination during our walks. A pair of iced Americanos on the patio, the Spokane River just beyond us, and Callie happily settled near the ever-present dog bowl became a familiar and favorite part of our summers.

The Coffee Stop That Became Part of Our Summers
The Atlas café feels bright and welcoming without losing the comfortable, neighborhood-coffee-shop atmosphere we like. The lounge area is arranged around a fireplace, with surrounding tables and chairs that make it easy to settle in rather than feel rushed out the door.
DOMA stays busy, especially during the summer, but the service has consistently been good and the wait times have never felt unreasonable for such a popular place. Even on a crowded morning, it still feels relaxed once the drinks are in hand.
A Look Around DOMA at Atlas Waterfront
Iced Americanos, Flavorful Drip & Good Pastries
We are particular about coffee, and the quality of DOMA’s beans and roasting is what kept bringing us back. The coffee tastes developed rather than burned, and even the drip coffee has enough flavor and character to be worth ordering on its own.
Our regular order was a pair of iced Americanos—simple drinks that leave nowhere for mediocre espresso to hide. DOMA’s always delivered. The pastries were a good companion to the coffee too: not the only reason to visit, but reliably fresh and enjoyable.
Bright Inside, River Views Outside
Inside, the café is bright, cozy, and comfortable. The fireplace anchors the lounge area, while a mix of tables and chairs gives the room enough variety for a quick stop, a conversation, or a slower morning with coffee.
Outside is what makes the Atlas location especially memorable. The patio looks toward the Spokane River, and the Centennial Trail runs right alongside it. On a pleasant day, coffee on the patio feels less like running an errand and more like choosing a destination.
Service, Prices & the Parking Tradeoff
Service was consistently friendly, and waits were rarely a problem—even when the café was busy. Prices were in line with other quality-focused coffee shops, and the quality in the cup made the cost feel fair.
Parking is the one recurring frustration. There are only a few dedicated spaces, and nearby street parking is often full. We learned not to count on pulling up directly in front, which is another reason arriving on foot from the Centennial Trail became our favorite way to visit.
Walking the Centennial Trail With Callie
Callie was always welcome on the patio, and DOMA keeps a water bowl available for dogs—a small detail that made the café feel genuinely pet friendly rather than merely pet tolerant.
Because the Atlas location sits directly on the Centennial Trail, it naturally became a destination during our walks. Callie got a long outing, we got excellent coffee, and all three of us could settle onto the patio with a view of the Spokane River.
Final Thoughts
DOMA Coffee at Atlas Waterfront became one of our most reliable Coeur d’Alene favorites. It combined genuinely good coffee with the kind of setting that made us want to linger: a bright interior, a cozy fireplace lounge, an inviting patio, and the river and trail just outside.
The limited parking is a real drawback, but it never outweighed what we enjoyed. Whenever possible, we simply made DOMA part of a walk instead of treating it as a drive-up stop.
We always return when we are in CDA. We recommend it to anyone who values carefully roasted coffee, flavorful drip, a well-made iced Americano, and the chance to enjoy it beside the Spokane River.
